Akitsa - Sang Nordique

Akitsa is for me, clearly the greatest Raw Black Metal band from Québec, and mostly because of this masterpiece. This album has an extremely raw and crushing sound that is unique to this album. There are no weak moments, none at all, Québec Black Metal at its best! Like always, let's start with the good points.

This masterpiece has a lot of good points, the biggest are clearly, again, the extremely raw and crushing guitar riffs and sound, but also the voice of Outre-Tombe, the guy who plays everything on this album. Riffs like the ones on "Sang Nordique", "Riposte" or "Vers la Victoire" are clearly in my Top 10 favorite riffs. I also really like the lyrics that speak about nationalism and about the forest, the snow and the war of our country, always the ones that I like the most. Another point that I like a lot is that the album is not repetitive at all, every song is completely different, so I'm never bored of this awesome album, and like I said before, the sound of the guitar is really unique to this album. Even if every Akitsa album has a slightly different sound, this one is clearly the best one.

This album has only one bad point in my opinion, and it's a bad point that I find a lot of the time in Raw Black Metal, the drums. I know it's Raw Black Metal, but there are limits. The best example I can name is "Au Combat", I will not say it's the worst, because every song is really good, but it is the least good, and the biggest point that makes it the least good are the drums. The same beat lasting 6:51, and the worst beat of the album. And honestly, I don't understand why Raw Black Metal bands don't pay attention to their drum beats, it can make such a difference.

To conclude this review, I absolutely recommend this to all the Raw Black Metal fans, you can't skip this album. Akitsa is such a good band over all, one of my favorites for sure. The best songs on this album are "Riposte", "Sang Nordique" and "Vers la victoire", but "La Nature de Mon Pays" is also a good one, a really good album finisher. The clean vocals of Outre-Tombe are really perfect for this song. Hope you enjoy!
