1 Review for 'Armnatt - Dense Fog''Dense Fog'

Armnatt - "Dense Fog" (2020)
26 minutes and 8 seconds, it is enough to (re) affirm the trio from Tavira as one of the ex-libris of Portuguese Black Metal.
Armnatt's music lives on (apparent) simplicity. “In what sense?”, you ask. Since 2013, the flag of the second wave of Black Metal has been raised with immense quality, and this simplicity takes me immediately to the beginning of the genre, in Scandinavian lands, to Bergen and Oslo, perhaps.
The uncomplicated nature of the genre which, as we know, can take on almost Floydian proportions, here it is given to us in its purest and crudest form: aggressive, melodic, dissonant, “stripped” of artifices and “instrumental juggling”, close to the sound approach of Punk.
Melodic lines that grab us, and hold us, addictive and hypnotizing! Guitar, voice and drums, there is no need for more. We dwell deep into its core, Black Metal is simplicity, faithful to what the 90s gave us and thus, aggressive and hateful, even though it has a soft melodic face buried beneath all the rubble and the decadent sound.
Gone are the days when Portuguese Black Metal was almost exclusively for domestic consumption.
