1 Review for 'Bütcher (BEL) - 666 Goats Carry My Chariot''666 Goats Carry My Chariot'
Embrace your heritage, embrace the 80s!
Apart from pretentious album titles, Bütcher has so far been a very consistent band. Their first album was a badass riff festival, but it was a bit too primitive and uninspired at some points. However; on this album, Bütcher arrived at a level of riffage that is almost unheard of. I mean HOLY SHIT! All the riffs are mezmerizingly catchy and memorable. You just can't forget riffs crafted like these that easily!
This band's usage of Speed/Thrash Metal riffs and beats goes beyond the Black/Thrash and old school Black Metal bands like Venom. No, on this album they successfully merged the 80s Exciter and Agent Steel with more obscure 90s bands like Aura Noir and Nifelheim. I can't emphasize the importance of the riffs here. Amazing would be an understatement.
The vocals are dramatic, and pretty much King Diamond Worship from start to finish. The drumming is spot on. The production is more than perfect (much more organic than the first album). There is also a bit of old school Epic Heavy bands like Manowar, Manilla Road or Medival Steel when it comes to the bass lines and the epic reverb-stenched solos.
At this point, you may find my review a bit cringy, but I can't do anything about it! I'm lost for words, and on albums like this I can't create meaningful sentences.
My highlight is the incredible title track.
Overall, this is one of the best Speed Metal albums in general, and probably my favorite album from 2020. I hope that they continue to make albums like this in the future.
