This is definitely a brilliant album, although I don't see it up there with 'At the Heart of Winter' and even 'Northern Chaos Gods' which was the surprise of 2018 for me. This is definitely a highlight though.

although i think this is way overrated (some songs reminds me of Blizzards beast!) but it has lots of fantastic stuff in it

"Sons of Northern Darkness" is definitely one of Immortal's best albums to date, and it's certainly one hell of a black metal record, one to be remembered and praised for the generations to come. It's original, well-composed, cohesive yet balanced, epic, evil, entertaining and atmospheric.
