German Thrash pioneers Sodom have now revealed the cover art and tracklist for their upcoming full length, titled "Epitome of Torture".
German Thrash legends Sodom played a key role in the early years of the Black Metal scene, influencing an endless array of bands with their distinctive brand of Teutonic Black / Thrash Metal in the early 80's together with fellow Germans Kreator and Destruction. They are still going strong to this day, and a 14th Sodom album is on the horizon, the final details of which have finally been revealed.
The album in question is titled "Epitome of Torture", and at the beginning of February the band revealed the following information on their official site:
In recent months, vocalist/bassist Tom Angelripper, guitarist Bernemann and their new drummer Markus 'Makka' Freiwald recorded a total of twelve new tracks (plus a Motörhead cover) which present Sodom as more diverse and multi-faceted than ever. 'Epitome Of Torture features not only your typical Sodom fare, but also two or three numbers which are slightly more moderate and melodic than what people have come to expect from us,' Tom Angelripper explains, 'so wait and see!'
This week the cover art and track list have also been revealed. The complete track list is as follows:
- My Final Bullet
- S.O.D.O.M.
- Epitome of Torture
- Stigmatized
- Cannibal
- Shoot Today - Kill Tomorrow
- Invocating the Demons
- Katjuscha
- Into the Skies of War
- Tracing the Victim
- Waterboarding (Bonus on limited Digipack)
- Splitting the Atom (Bonus on limited Digipack)
And here is the anticipated cover art for the album:
"Epitome of Torture" will be released in Germany on the 26th of April, in the rest of Europe on the 29th of April, and in North America on the 7th of May through SPV / Steamhammer. The album will come in four editions: A jewel case release, a digipak with bonus tracks, a double gatefold LP with coloured vinyl, and digital download.
Sodom - Epitome of Torture will soon be available for pre-order on Amazon.com. Stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks.
