The album, titled "Catacomb Cult", is set to be released on the 6th of August.
German underground heroes Baxaxaxa will be releasing their long-awaited debut full-length album on the 6th of August through The Sinister Flame Records. Yesterday, they revealed some details regarding the release (which is thought to be titled "Catacomb Cult") on their official Instagram page.
The final tracklist for the album is as follows:
- Catacomb Cult
- As the Moon inhaled all Sunrays
- Flame of Redemption
- Kingdom Ablaze
- Walpurgis Dancers
- The Great malicious Tongue
- Ghosts of Törzburg
- Temple of the Seven Keys
The band has released the title track through their official YouTube channel yesterday:
Baxaxaxa was formed in 1992, and they made a huge impact on the underground scene with their debut demo titled "Hellfire", which was one of the earliest examples of keyboard use in Black Metal. Although that demo had an interesting doomy sound in general, it was mostly let down by poor production, and was pretty much a forgotten release outside the underground scene, and the band split up after that point.
However, in 2017 the band reformed, and they made a new demo tape in 2018 (titled "The Old Evil") and an EP in 2020 (titled "Devoted to HIM"). In may 2021 they announced that they were on the recording and mastering stage of their debut full-length, and yesterday, on their latest Instagram post, they revealed the artwork and release date:
The album will be released on CD and vinyl LP formats. Stay tuned for more updates.
