Australian Black Thrash legends Australia Deströyer 666 have recently shared the details for what will be their sixth studio album. The new record will be titled "Never Surrender", and will be released on the 2nd of December through long-time partners Season of Mist.

Together with the announcement, a brand new single in the form of a music video, specifically for the album's third track, "Guillotine", was revealed:

The label had this to say:

The outlaws from down under deliver another pummeling and relentless lesson in aggression with full length number 6(66). ‘Never Surrender’ is a furious assault of black thrash, chainsaw riffs, and warlike drums, offering no moment of reprisal as it rages on for 40 unyielding minutes. With this offering, Destroyer 666 takes no prisoners.

[...]

DESTRÖYER 666 continue to do what they are best at: kicking ass and hammering out heavy metal that is slamming straight into the face. No compromise, no sell out, no bullshit!

"Never Surrender" features nine tracks in total:

  1. Never Surrender
  2. Andraste
  3. Guillotine
  4. Pitch Black Night
  5. Mirror's Edge
  6. Grave Raiders
  7. Savage Rights
  8. Rather Death
  9. Batavia's Graveyard

The cover art was designed by Alex Kemp:

Guillotine must be one of the most generic songs ever released by D666 I can't say that I'm not disappointed. I truly hope that the album itself won't be as terrible as Guillotine.

Seeing how it is their main single and is directly targeting Australia's covid-authoritarianism, I think they were taking the opportunity to get a kind of classic thrash resistance anthem going, rather than showcasing what is in store with the rest of the album.

That said, I wouldn't mind if it were in the same vibe, I kinda dig it. They are seasoned veterans and haven't put out a bad album yet, so whatever they are working on, I trust they'll know how to make it work as a whole. Also, they've been working with Season of Mist for +20 years now, good combo.

I expect another song will drop within the next couple of weeks, so we'll find out soon enough anyway.
