I am not at all impressed by the recent glut of gutless, wimpy, shoe-gaze "black metal" with themes of suicide, depression, sentimental thoughts of days long gone. Black metal is and always will be about the will to power and the embracement of darkness. The weak and suicidal have no place in this genre, and I don't accept their adoption of "black metal" as a place in which to hide from reality and to dream of fantasy loves and nostalgia. Simply put, this type of "music" and ideology is weak and undermines the strength beholden in doorways otherwise forbidden. Bands like Nightbringer bring back the original power of black metal, the spirit of our deserved placement in the universe, the enlightenment of base humanity from the dregs of this feaux-civilization to the obtainment of true transcendence. If we are to take our place amongst the stars, we must begin anew, and in order to begin anew, we must destroy all that is rotten, and embrace what we fear. Behold Nightbringer, and what is to become of us, we hold the keys.
